“Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #Global Goals”
Every year, people all over the globe join together on September 21st to observe the “International Day of Peace.” This promotes harmony, peace, understanding, connectivity, empathy, and unity amongst the global communities, countries, and nations. Pakistan always celebrates with the international community, assuring the prevalence of ambitions aimed to achieve. This year’s theme is “Actions for Peace: Our Ambition for the #Global Goals.”
Pakistan is amongst the top-troop-contributing countries contributing to World Peace Day. Pakistan deeply values, empathizes, and contributes to maintaining safety, security, and friendly terms, and always avoids conflict-ridden areas worldwide. Even within the boundaries of the country, the “Blue Helmets” are day and night serving the country. They are vital in establishing Commercial Properties, residential properties, businesses and maintaining peace and order within the country’s cities.
Pakistan is proud of its consistent contributions, continued commitment, and shared ideals of stability, cooperation, and peace. Pakistan renders services, salutes the UN peacekeepers, and reiterates its own peacekeeping services for the UN. Over 200,000 service men and women have served with honorary and valour in 46 UN Missions on all continents of the world since 1960.
Pakistani peacekeepers are professional and dedicated, and their mission is always distinguished and achieved with great success. About 169 of our brave peacekeepers have ultimately sacrificed their lives while ensuring to maintain the international cause of security and peace.
Pakistani Women Peacekeepers have also assisted during times of conflict, be it post or pre-conflict, and this devotion has inspired the women of the globe. One senior female group from Pakistan was deployed in a UN peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
They provided a range of resources to the region, including stress counselors, operation officers, doctors, nurses, gender advisors, training officers, psychologists, and logistic officers. These deployments reflect Pakistan’s rooted commitment to women’s role in promoting sustainable security and peace.
Historical context of International Day of Peace

The origins to World Peace Day date back to 1981 when the United Nations(UN) established its observance coincidentally with the opening sessions of the General Assembly. The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution stating the third Tuesday of September as the International Day of Peace. The symbol of the International Day of Peace is Dove. It represents hope and aspiration for a peaceful world. White clothing and accessories are often worn to symbolize Harmony, Peace, and Unity.
However, in 2001, the General moved the observance of International Peace Day to a fixed date of September 21st to mark the opening day of the regular session.
Pakistani Steadfast Commitment to World Peace
Pakistan has steadfast commitment to world Peace Day, well maintained and assured a sustainable engagement towards peacebuilding & peacekeeping as the leading troops are contributing to the country and internationally hosting the oldest peacekeeping missions, the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP).
On this day, we commit to reframing our ideology of Peace, Harmony, and survival, and the entire peacekeeping mechanism is effective within our motherland, Pakistan, our neighbors, and the International globe under the security of the UN.
The world is well aware of Pakistan’s selfless, unconditional efforts just to establish peace. It is a country that perpetuates a high-level peacekeeping effort that will continue in the present and future.
